Look in the area of collectible signs. I love these things so much but damn there's a lot of crack here.

CP to be sure, but how awesome would it be to have those hanging in your garage?

Good lord. Was this building located on a giant spoon or something?

The crazy thing is, they're priced like this because they sell. These signs are in high demand right now. High enough demand that people with a lot more money than us think they're worth it.

call me cynical but I just find no value in antiques. Sure it's old but it doesn't have any legit historical significance. Does what it represent have significance? Sure, but in the end it's just a sign. There are signs everywhere. Just because something is old or rare doesn't make it valuable.

I will say I do like the idea of having retro reproductions as a throwback to the classics though.

I find value in them, just not that much value.

ok maybe I don't find no value, but not a ridiculous value. I couldn't see myself paying more than $50 or so for a sign I really want.

Coincidentally this is the only one I have (it's from my first store I worked at)

No sane person would, but P. T. Barnam once had a saying about the birth rate of suckers.

I have a feeling we're looking at a still-inflating bubble here and sooner or later the sign market is going to see the same crash that happened to classic cars in the early '90s.

Actually, old and rare are two pretty solid components when it comes to value. Possibly you have never heard of nostalgia.

I agree, some things are worth a lot should they be old and rare. But a sign is a sign... They were and are everywhere. A sign for a couple of grand is unreal when you could get an old vintage car for the same price
